Presbyterian School Honors Local Houston Author
Presbyterian School recently hosted its annual fall book fair at Barnes and Nobles (3003 Holcombe Blvd.) with Steven E. Jones, Sr., a local children’s author. Steven E. Jones, Sr. attended the book fair to autograph copies of his children’s book, The Ballad of Blue Eagle. Families and friends of Presbyterian School supported the book fair at Barnes and Nobles by purchasing $16,000 worth of books and other store merchandise. Barnes and Nobles will donate a portion of the book fair sales to Presbyterian School in support of the school libraries. Families and friends also generously purchased and donated close to 200 books for use in both the school’s lower and middle school libraries. The success of the book fair is attributed to book fair chair, Michele Boettiger, and the many Presbyterian School parent volunteers who contributed their time.
Prior to the book fair, author, Steven E. Jones, Sr., visited Presbyterian School to share his book, The Ballad of Blue Eagle, with early childhood and lower school students. Inspired by his grandfather’s stories, Steven E. Jones, Sr. wrote The Ballad of Blue Eagle, to commemorate the stories he repeatedly heard growing up. Steven E. Jones Sr., enlisted the help of his own son, Steven E. Jones, Jr. to create the book’s illustrations. The Ballad of Blue Eagle is a lively book honoring the work and efforts of several generations.
