Position Summary
The Extended Day Assistant supports Presbyterian School’s Extended Day program (grades PK3 – 8th), including the implementation of the stay-and-play program and student supervision. The Extended Day Assistant is encouraged to discuss with leadership opportunities for professional and social involvement with school and student activities.
Position Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises and instructs children in after school activities, including but not limited to supervision of homework, administering snacks, accompanying outdoor activities, playing games, assisting with arts and crafts, and other programmed activities

Assists in set-up and take-down of equipment as needed to accommodate after school programs

Supports external Extended Day program offerings as requested

Provides supervision and instruction coverage for Extended Day programs

Assists with student behavior and reconciliation as required

Provides first aid assistance to students and reports illnesses to the nurse

Performs various other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications
-
6 months to a year professional experience, preferred
-
High School degree or GED required

Teaching experience preferred

A passion for working with Early Childhood, Lower School and Middle School aged children and an understanding for the unique ways that they learn and develop

Ability to make members of the community including students, families and program providers feel safe, secure and well-cared-for while never compromising high standards and meaningful accountability

Possesses computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Docs and Sheets or Microsoft equivalent

Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

Ability to work effectively with others

Ability to work independently

Ability to interact with a professional demeanor with staff, general public, and school personnel

Effective prioritization and time management skills

Ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure
Non-Physical Demands:
Change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working with others as part of a team, and irregular schedule/overtime may be required at times.
