Facilities Specialist
Background:
The Facilities Specialist for Presbyterian School is responsible for the overall functionality of school facilities and fulfilling maintenance requests from faculty and staff. The Facilities Specialist is responsible for coordinating facilities personnel and vendors, in conjunction with the Director of Facilities Operations. The Facilities Specialist must use working knowledge of building systems to perform preventive and repair maintenance in performance of daily duties. The Facilities Specialist is encouraged to discuss with leadership, opportunities for professional and social involvement with school and student activities.

Position Summary

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for facilitating and fulfilling work orders and event set up requests as assigned

Coordinates work orders and event set up requests among facilities staff as directed by leadership

Monitor and maintain all building systems as assigned

Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure that machines/equipment continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings and facilities do not deteriorate

Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, including inspecting, operating and testing machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions

Utilizes building technological systems and software for purposes of monitoring and controlling building functions

Performs light tasks, including assembly and installation of furniture, office equipment and building materials such as electrical and plumbing

Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster drywall and other parts of building structure

Assures safety standards are used which comply with all school, local, City, State and Federal guidelines

Assists staff, coaches, volunteers and leasing customers with facilities set-up/tear-down as assigned

Assists with scheduling and coordinating facilities janitorial services as directed by leadership

Performs facilities janitorial services as needed

Maintains and tracks facilities inventory, including disbursement, assignment, maintenance and replacement of facilities assets, such as furniture, walkie-talkies, etc.

Provides security presence on school grounds as directed by leadership

Requests and coordinates school needs for security presence on school grounds for daily activities and special events in conjunction with school vendors

Assists with security set-up and building access for new and existing staff

Maintains school printers and copiers, escalating and coordinating vendor repairs as necessary

Partners with leadership to improve maintenance and facilities processes and procedures at school facilities

Constructs, assembles and moves furniture, props and other materials/objects

Perform various other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications
-
2 plus years’ experience as Facilities Coordinator or similar role

Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred

High School Diploma or equivalency required; Associates degree preferred
-
General to high level of Handyman skills, including competency with various tools and equipment

Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electric and other building and office equipment
-
The ability to operate various types of tools and equipment safely
-
Ability to lift, push and/or pull 50+ pounds occasionally
-
Physical demands include frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, crouching, reaching and climbing

Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions

Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Docs and Sheets or Microsoft equivalent

Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

Ability to work effectively with others

Ability to interact with a professional demeanor with staff, general public, and school personnel

Non-Physical Demands:
Change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working with others as part of a team, and irregular schedule/overtime may be required at times.
