Christy believes in the value of investing in the strengths of educators for the benefit of students everywhere. Her work focuses on bringing school leadership, grade level, and department teams together to understand not only their individual strengths but those of their team, so that they can work together with more understanding, joy, and productivity moving past any perceived relational challenges. When not at school, Christy loves escaping to the beach, reading, stitching, volunteering at the Houston Botanic Garden, and being outdoors. Christy and her husband, Scott, have two daughters, Maddie (PS ’12) and Colby (PS ’14), both graduates of PS. Q & A with CHRISTY
What are your top five CliftonStrengths, and which ONE do you find yourself leaning into the most these days?
Maximizer, Empathy, Communication, Woo, Arranger and Positivity are my top six strengths. I couldn’t just leave the response to five, because Maximizer! have to add a #6! Maximizer really supports all my other strengths daily, but if I must pick just one that I try to lean into the most, it is Positivity.
What’s your favorite part of the PS Mission ("Family, School and Church united in the education and support of each Child") and why?
My favorite part of the PS mission is the word united. It’s a great reminder that at the end of the day, we are all united by the desire for each of our students to be the best version of themselves they can be. We may not always agree how to get there, but the common goal is always the same.
What’s your happy place? Why?
The beach! Any beach, anywhere!
What makes you laugh?
My husband makes me laugh every day. Don’t tell him I said that!
What’s your favorite musical group and song?
I love ABBA and the song, Dancing Queen. You can’t help but get in a good mood when that song comes on.
Are Christmas gifts from Santa wrapped or unwrapped?
All Christmas gifts are wrapped, and Santa has special wrapping paper. That said, be sure Santa hides his wrapping paper very well or you might have a problem on your hands…
Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?
Crunchy is the best, but honestly who doesn't love any kind of peanut butter? I’ll happily eat them both.
