Position Title: Middle School Spanish Teacher
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports To: Head of Middle School
This is a Middle School (6th-8th Grade) position. New for 2019-2020, Spanish will expand by becoming a part of the sixth grade core learning program. Students will begin to acquire proficiency in listening, reading, writing, and speaking Spanish, while they gain a deeper understanding of, and appreciation for, Hispanic culture. Additionally, the utilization of the surrounding museums facilitates unique opportunities for authentic learning and is an expected part of the curriculum. This three-year learning cycle culminates in the 8th grade with the completion of content equivalent to a high school Spanish I curriculum. With small class sizes, talented partners among the faculty, and a thematic curriculum which introduces personal identity and love for global studies, there is room for growth and innovation in the program. Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Master’s degree preferred.
Fluency in the target language.
Teaching experience in an independent school environment preferred.

Demonstrated comfort in maintaining a positive partnership with parents and students.
