Dear Parents,
Currently, the Houston Junior Prep Conference (HJPC) is working on plans for re-opening athletic competition among the conference schools. We will update you as soon as the final decision is made. There is a strong possibility that there will be no games before Sept. 28, but that has not yet been finalized.
Although we do not know how the HJPC fall season will unfold, the Athletic Department is working hard to provide athletic opportunities for our middle school students while staying in compliance with the School's Health, Safety, and Learning Protocols. The School is not canceling athletics.
In the next few days, each of our Fall coaches will send emails to their rosters introducing themselves as well as providing a few more details of how each team will start their season.
We will begin transitioning into athletics through online training. Our hope is to get students ready for their athletic season by providing opportunities to keep them moving while focusing on their specific sport. We will provide online training 3-4 times at week during Online Learning beginning August 24. Some coaches may elect to begin their online training the week of August 17.
The online training will consist of a mix of conditioning, strength and cardio, stretching and some technical work specific to their sports, among other things that your child's coach will provide. We also believe the online training will help us get to know your child better before they arrive on campus. We want to start building relationships with your children, and there is no doubt that this will also help our students athletes get to know his/her coach better.
Once students return to On-Campus Learning, we will proceed with on-campus athletic practices. All practices will be held on the main campus and will conclude at the following times:
6th Grade Volleyball - 4 p.m.
Any modifications to practice time will be communicated by the coach. Once teams are able to practice offsite, travel time will be added. If you would like your child to attend Extended Care after athletic practice, please make sure you have pre-registered for Extended Care online so we can ensure adequate staffing for students remaining on-campus from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Students are not allowed to drop-in for Extended Care. Click here to register for Extended Care.
Please note, if a student elects to continue Online Learning in lieu of On-Campus Learning, he/she may not participate in on-campus athletics.
If your child would like to participate in a fall sport, but has not signed up for one, please click here to sign-up for a sport. Coaches are creating their rosters according to our sign-up form. Please keep a lookout for your coach's email and, as always, if you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact your team's coach or myself.
Go PANTHERS!
