PreKindergarten 3
PK3
it all begins here
Our instructional philosophy in Early Childhood is a play-based hands-on approach in which children are actively engaged in constructing their learning. Play is a natural learning environment for children. It is something that they have been doing for their whole lives. In the comfort, safety and familiarity of play, children are more likely to take risks and try new things and this is when significant learning happens. Our PK3 teachers act as guides, creatively directing student play to facilitate growth socially, emotionally and academically.
Social Studies
We capitalize on children’s natural curiosity about the world around them to immerse them in an exciting world of learning. Social Studies is the thematic umbrella under which we integrate Math, Science, Language Arts and the Arts. PK3 students will explore their world both near and far, from our Houston community to the Amazon Rainforest to an African Safari and beyond.
Math
Students learn foundational mathematical skills through experimentation, investigation, discovery, construction and discussion. The active hands-on approach utilizes a variety of materials and manipulatives which supports the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Language Arts
Our language arts curriculum emphasizes foundational literacy skills. Our multi-modal approach focuses on the development of oral language vocabulary, letter recognition, letter/sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, story dictation and fine motor development to support written expression.
Science
Science is happening all around us. Students use their 5 senses for exploration, investigation, observation and experimentation. Students engage in active, hands-on processes of scientific discovery.
