Position Summary

The Extended Care Assistant provides supervision and instruction to PK3 through 8th grade students in Presbyterian School’s after school care program. The Extended Care Assistant is responsible for supporting the needs of programs offered for student participation. The Extended Care Assistant is encouraged to discuss with leadership, opportunities for professional and social involvement with school and student activities.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises and instructs children in after school activities, including but not limited to supervision of homework, administering snacks, accompanying outdoor activities, playing games, assisting with arts and crafts, and other programmed activities

  • Maintains a warm classroom environment with a positive and flexible attitude

  • Assists in set-up and take-down of Extended Care equipment as needed to accommodate after school programs

  • Assists with student behavior and reconciliation as required

  • Provides first aid assistance to students and reports illnesses to the Director of Aftercar3

  • Performs various other duties as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

  • 6 months to a year professional experience, preferred

  • High School degree or GED required

  • Possesses computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Gmail, Google Drive, Shared Docs and Sheets or Microsoft equivalent

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to work effectively with others

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to interact with a professional demeanor with staff, general public, and school personnel

  • Effective prioritization and time management skills

  • Ability to meet strict deadlines under pressure

Non-Physical Demands:
Change of tasks, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, working with others as part of a team, and irregular schedule/overtime may be required at times.
