Middle School Curriculum
The integrated and aligned Middle School curriculum is intended to prepare students for challenging academic programs in a variety of private and public high schools. All grades also have allocated time each day for Assembly, Advisory, Chapel, or other related activities meant to spur the spiritual and character growth of the students.
All fifth graders will take a core curriculum, which includes Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, and Science. All students will also experience daily instruction in a Habits of Learning class, which emphasizes the essential skills of study, note-taking, organization, and time-management strategies through project-based activities with the Museum of Fine Arts meant to increase their executive functioning. Fifth grade students will also participate in daily Physical Education class as well as a Rotation class (Art, Bible, and Music).
All sixth graders will take a core curriculum, which includes an integrated English, Social Studies, Math, Science, and Innovations. All students will experience a daily Rotation class (Art, Drama, Music). Students will also take a rotation of Physical Education and Bible.
All seventh graders will take a core curriculum, which includes English, History, Algebra IA, Life Science, and Spanish. Students will also take a rotating series of classes to include Physical Education and Bible. Beginning in seventh grade, students have the opportunity to experience fine arts electives every day.
All eighth graders will take a core curriculum that includes English, History, Algebra IB, Integrated Physics and Chemistry, and Spanish. Rotating classes for eighth grade students include Physical Education and Bible. Eighth grade students continue to have the opportunity to experience fine arts electives every day, and every student participates in the spring musical during the last trimester.
