We are blessed to have many of our students signed up to play golf this season. Our golf program has been very successful in past years, winning three HJPC championship with three undefeated seasons. In fact, Presbyterian fielded the first golf team in our conference and founded the league. Due to the pioneering efforts of our school, many teams now include golf in their school athletic programs. Presbyterian hosts the HJPC tournament this spring. Our alumni consist of many top-flight layers in Houston.
Golf is for 6th-8th grade boys and girls. The matches that we host are coed, but other schools have separate tournaments for boys and girls. We do participate in separate gender tournaments, but the matches we host are coed. While our squad is limited due to golf course restrictions, we will have both boys and girls on the roster of approximately twelve members. HJPC golf is a competitive sport replete with many accomplished golfers.
In light of these facts, players with the most experience will have an advantage in making the roster. If you are a novice player and have never played competitively, the chances of you qualifying are diminished. We advise players who regularly shoot below 100 to compete for a spot on the roster--so measure your chances by this standard. If you have further questions, please call me (706-681-5904).
The tryouts will be held February 5-7 at Hermann Park Golf Course.
