Wellness Week at Presbyterian School was a resounding success, marking our inaugural endeavor into promoting holistic well-being among our community members. Throughout the week, students, faculty, and parents engaged in a diverse array of activities aimed at fostering physical, mental, and emotional wellness. "Thank you to all the parents, faculty, and staff who participated and helped make it so successful!" chimed in Director of Wellness, Ann Horne.
In the Early Childhood division, parents were warmly welcomed to participate in their children's PE classes, gaining insight into the routines and joys of physical activity. Additionally, a presentation on dental health by Dr. Elizabeth Briceno, enriched students' understanding of oral hygiene. A prayer labyrinth for our youngest students encouraged them to slow down and reflect on God.
Lower School students benefited from informative assemblies, including discussions on managing diabetes and celiac disease. Parents were also invited to join PE classes, immersing themselves in the energetic atmosphere and bonding with their children over some pretty intense dodgeball sessions. The Lower School's commitment to environmental stewardship was evident as 5th-grade students embarked on a meaningful beach clean-up project with a local organization. This hands-on experience underscored the importance of community engagement and environmental conservation.
In the Middle School, a thought-provoking presentation shed light on the impact of social media on mental health, empowering students to make informed choices about their online interactions. Practical skills such as CPR and First Aid were also imparted, ensuring students are equipped to respond to emergencies effectively.
Wellness Stations provided a comforting presence with therapy dogs offering companionship and solace. Meanwhile, quiet prayer walks facilitated moments of introspection and spiritual rejuvenation. The week culminated in Chapel gatherings, where students and parents gathered for worship, reflection, and spiritual nourishment. Throughout the week, gratitude walls served as a tangible expression of appreciation and unity within the school community.
Overall, Wellness Week at Presbyterian School was a testament to our commitment to nurturing the holistic well-being of our students, faculty, and parents. Through meaningful activities and shared experiences, we laid the foundation for a culture of wellness that will endure and flourish in the years to come.
