Active Learning

In the Museum District

Our location, in the heart of the Museum District, deepens and amplifies our curriculum. Through active, project-based learning, we promote student agency, choice, and individual challenge. Fieldwork, STEAM-based courses, and cross-curricular projects play a pivotal role. Our expert faculty with over 250 years of collective experience partner with Rice University, over 20 museums, and Texas Medical Center, to provide opportunities to grow student curiosity and creativity, and to answer our students’ drive for purpose and meaning.

Joy-fueled Achievement

All-In Academically, Artistically, Athletically, and Spiritually

For deep, meaningful learning we build on traditions that work while applying new research about the way young people develop and learn. Our goal is to turn down the volume on the academic and social churn and stress many young people experience. Research shows that students crave connection and the ability to contribute. We rely on an ever-present God that reassures us we are never truly alone in the world; our students know that no one is working alone in classrooms, on playing fields, through performances, and in service. The result? Students are all-in academically, artistically, athletically, and spiritually. The research is clear: happier kids achieve at higher levels.

Thriving Familes

A Neighborhood School That Transcends Neighborhoods

“Family” is the first word in our mission for a reason: our goal is not only to help children thrive but to help families of all kinds thrive. We engage, invest in, and support the whole family as a part of each child’s education. Students build lifelong friendships here and so do families. No matter what part of Houston they live in, no matter where they worship, our families say PS gives them the kind of soul-filled community they long for—a neighborhood school

that transcends neighborhoods.

Compassionate Leaders

Shaping Tomorrow's Leaders

Whether they’re learning to read, hiking a mountain, winning a championship, or making a presentation, our students progress from a “first ever ...” experience to their personal best. And when they graduate, they attend the high schools of their choice. What admission counselors at these schools tell us is P.S. kids are “all in, happy students who thrive.” How did they get this way? By growing in community and compassion for others and for themselves. Through Christ-centered education that inspires wisdom beyond knowledge, character above accomplishment, and confidence to last a lifetime, our students gain the courage to lean into life’s challenges and opportunities and to lead with love.

Expertise vs. Old Assumptions

A New Era in Education

We question old assumptions that stifle student success and love of learning in favor of new research and methods to grow our students’ curiosity, creativity, and to answer their drive for purpose and meaning. And it works. More than a feel-good education, the research is clear: happier kids achieve at higher levels. Students here learn more than successful test-taking strategies. They learn how to build an essential foundation in communication, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving. Our teaching and coaching team is trained in a diverse array of pedagogies to enrich and extend each student’s learning. With a faculty, a curriculum, a building, and a location devoted to deep learning we are helping to shape a new era in education.

Confidence in every Child

We Cultivate Confidence

We believe in each student’s promise. We bring together family, faith, and learning to ignite in our students a resilience they can count on. We encourage and challenge each student into a confident awareness of what they need to learn—and far more importantly—of what they can and will become. The result is an earned confidence rather than arrogance. We know we are shaping tomorrow’s leaders during the most formative years of their lives. Each student matters to us and is known and remembered long after graduation.
